My Favorite Things

Oprah has her list of favorite things so I decided I would list out some things that I am in love with right now...some things are new some are oldies but goodies...

- pretzel crisps - these things are delish! I love pretzels but they are flat like chips so they are crispier. You can get like a 20 lb bag of them at Costco and I highly recommend them.
- Jen Lancaster's books and www.jennsylvania.com - I devoured her books almost as quickly as I went thru Twilight. She makes me laugh out loud while reading - much to the annoyance of my sleeping husband!
- BC Bonacure Color Save - my hairdresser is always shocked at how bad my color fades between colors so she recommended this stuff and I am seriously considering postponing my next appointment because it has not faded at all
- Phytomer Hydracontinue face lotion - love love love it! Expensive but worth it. I buy it from Dermstore.com and it always gets here like a day later.
- Retailmenot.com - before I buy anything online I look at this site for a coupon code. I would say 75% of the time I will find something to save me some cabbage
- Fage Greek Yogurt Total 0% - this stuff is insanely good - packed with protein and creamy like cream cheese. The only fall back is it is expensive. I buy it as a delicious treat.
- iTunes Genius - you pick a song and then start the genius and it will create a playlist for you based on that song. You pick how many songs it will include up to 100. It is awesome and addicting. You can even do it on the go which is great for the car.
- Water with lemon - Although I used to be known as "the hydrator" because I would make everyone drink 2 - 3 liters of water daily, I have slacked lately. I am trying to drink more water so I have started putting some lemon juice in my water and it is working. yummy.
- Lavender essential oil - I use it as "medicine" for my girls to help them feel better. I also like to put a few drops on our pillow cases before going to sleep.
- Body Shop Body Butter in Coconut - I slather it on daily and love it. I have dry skin and Colorado is insanely dry so I need as much help as I can get. I love it and it smells like Hawaii!
- Sleep. I love sleep. I like to have 8 hours if possible. I have been blessed with a baby who sleeps a lot and 7 hour stretch at night :)

Now if I was Oprah, you would get a fancy gift basket with all of these things in it... but yeah I am not but I highly recommend you try/use them if you don't already

Reality TV Addiction

Hi my name is Dori and I am addicted to reality shows! Seriously I have a problem. Right now, my DVR is set up to record the following:
American Idol
So You Think You Can Dance
Real Housewives of (you name it but OC and NYC are my favs!)
Deadliest Catch
Project Runway
The Fashion Show (the new Project Runway on Bravo)
Chopped
Top Chef Masters (starts tonight yippee)
Bachlorette
Next Food Network Star
Design Star
and there are probably more but I can't think of them at the moment!

So if I were to be on a reality show which one would I be??? Well I wish it was Top Chef or Project Runway but I am not a chef nor do I have any idea how to sew! I would love to do Amazing Race but my husband and I would kill each other so I would have to do it with my sisters (I am really bad with heights and there is no way I could eat horrible food so I probably should not sign up). Now I would do an HGTV make over show in a second!

I am not alone with this addiction, my husband Geoff is just as addicted as I am. He watches every singe one with me (minus the Bachlorette and Bachelor). Yes we named our youngest daughter Kenley after the crazy girl on Project Runway season 5 - we just really liked her name but she was not our favorite.

I also have a secret passion for teenager shows (Greek,Gossip Girl, 90210...), HGTV, and the Food Network. I honestly think that I would be a good home stager because of all the shows I have watched and my ability to tell people like it is even if it isn't very nice...

How do I have time to watch all these shows and still have a life? It is this amazing invention called the DVR! I can watch an insane amount of TV way more efficiently then regular tv. Without all the commercials and the "coming up next" previews, you can crank out an hour long show in 30 minutes. Impressive I know -- oh you said pathetic not impressive... yeah I know but it is an addiction I can't help it!

Maternity Leave = Lazy Leave

My 12 weeks of maternity leave are quickly coming to an end. What I have found utterly amazing is how little I can accomplish in a day when I am not working. No my house is not sparkling clean (the cleaning ladies come tomorrow horray!), laundry is piled up, and there is lots of things for me to be doing but here I sit on the couch, in front of the tv watching Clean House and surfing the net. What is wrong with me??? Is it sad that eventhough it is gorgeous out today, I don't want to go for a run since I actually showered this morning? Perhaps I am just basking in lazy since in just over a week it will all be over with.

When I am back at work, I will be still be a "good mom" to my family, keep the house organized, the laundry will be up to date, I will exercise 3 - 5 days a week, work 40+ hours per week, and I will still find time to play. For now, I am exhausted, perhaps I will have a little nap :)

Mommyhood Chaos

Mommyhood Chaos is a good way to describe my life right now. I am currently on maternity leave from my job for another week and I decided to start a blog. I will use this as a venue to talk about the chaos in my life as a mom, in my job, in my life, other people's lives, and all other random craziness that I feel the need to vent about! My goal is to update this regularly - we will see how that pans out once I get back to work. Enjoy!
